Color Scheme..Check!

Okay, so we have officially decided on a color scheme for our wedding. After talking it over with Mike we have actually decided to go with a color scheme that wasn't any of the options I showed you in my previous post. We had originally decided on purple and green, but once we really thought about it we realized that we aren't really green & purple kind of people. Sooo drum roll please.....

We have decided on Orange, Navy Blue and Champagne!! :) We really wanted to use orange for our fall wedding, but wanted to pick a color combination that more exemplified us as a couple. It's preppy and sporty and I think you'll all agree that it's a little more "us". Plus is wicked fun! We're both really excited about it! So here's some of the inspiration I found that showsthe direction we're going with our color scheme.

I found this on theknot.com, it was a wedding in Seattle photographed by onethousandwordsphotography. We will be doing navy blue bridesmaid dresses and some sort of orange flowered bouquet; here are some links to dresses I like one two and three . We're also going to have orange shalls, because most likely our ceremony will be on the colder side. We are going to stick with classic black tuxes, but also do navy ties with an orange boutonniere.

The bridesmaid will carry something like this, except it will be more bulky and "fluffy" so to speak than this picture shows. I love roses, ranunculous and peonies :) I'll show you more flower things later in our planning process.
As far as reception centerpieces, we LOVE the candlelight feel to a room. We plan on having small arangements of flowers on each table with candles floating in these tall cylinder class vases and also some smaller candles without water on the tables. At the head table we plan on have rows of candles intermixed with vases with small arrangements of flowers. We also have a surprise that will be going inside the glass cylinders, but you'll have to wait until the wedding to see what we're planning on doing ;).

At the ceremony, we will be doing something along the lines of the picture above. We will also have pomoderes hung by ribbon off the end seats of each row. We also have decided to not have an archway at the ceremony. The back drop is to spectacular to have an archway take away from it. Instead we are going to have two large potted plants on either side of us. It should look great!

So that's it for now. I have also started looking at wedding songs for the ceremony/reception..I won't tell you about that now, but let's just say "Another One Bites the Dust" is a potential garter toss song ;). Maybe my nxt post will be wedding dress inspiration, we'll see :).

Colors, colors, colors

So I am having a hard time deciding on a color scheme. I go back and forth between traditional fall colors and something a little different. Sometimes I feel like if I do a traditional theme I am not being creative and I'm being typical. Mike makes a good point though, I can still be creative within the traditional fall theme. I really like champagne as a base color. I find it really classy. So I need you opinion.

Here are the top contenders..

1. Purple, Green, Champagne

2. orange, champagne, grey

3. green, dark brown, champagne

4. orange, red, brown, champagne

So what do you think? leave a comment on my facebook or here and let me know! :)

First Post :)

So I have decided to make a wedding blog where I can update everyone on the progress with wedding planning. I think it will be a more efficient way to keep everyone up to date on what is going on. It will also be like a journal for me that I can look back on years down the road and maybe even our kids will look at it when they are planning their wedding! My good friend Kenzie gave me the idea because that is what her sister is doing for her wedding. So thanks Kenz! :)

So here's is what's happened so far...

wedding date: check..October 15th, 2011
reception hall: check..The Log Cabin
ceremony: check..also at The Log Cabin
DJ: check..we went with a local dj who has done other events in my family
Photographer: check..she did my senior pictures and is a family friend..she does a great job!

That is what we have officially done. We've also put together a draft of the guest list which we're hoping to keep under 230. Doing that got me really excited because I started thinking about how great it'll be to have everyone we love in one place which will probably never happen again. I haven't gone dress shopping yet, but I will probably do that in August when I am home for more than a day. That way I can have my mom and sisters with me. I really like the sweetheart, fitted up top and then flowing out type of dress. I have started looking at bridesmaid dresses as well. I love strapless sweetheart knee length dresses and the company Dessy has a dress that fits that description. I need to look more into that, and hopefully get my bridesmaids fitted by Thanksgiving of next year. Mike and I have also been looking at potential honeymoon destinations. We really like the caribbean and are thinking about the Bahamas. Mike went there once in High School and loved it. I really want to swim with dolphins and go parasailing while we're there. We both think it would be a nice treat for us on our honeymoon. We've decided to wait and go on our honeymoon in December because that way neither of us misses too much work/school. We plan on doing a mini honeymoon the weekend after up to Sonoma or down to Monteray or maybe to Tahoe, which will be a nice "mini" honeymoon to celebrate our wedding with.

So most of the bigs things are taken care of, which at this point is fine. We still have a year and a half until the wedding. It's nice having time to really enjoy the process of wedding planning without being stressed due to a short time frame. I am sure it will get crazy though once we start getting into next year! Right now it is all thinking of color schemes and creative ideas, which is so fun!
